The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Holy Easter or Surb Zatik (in Armenian) on the 4th of April this year. This is one of the most important spiritual holidays of Armenia. Easter means a lot for Armenians; people start getting ready for the celebrations few days before the big day. Every family should make a special pilaf from rice and raisin and there should be a lot of painted Easter eggs. The process of preparations for the celebration is a lot fun especially for the youngest members of the family; they usually run around with their dyed eggs showing others what they got.

Although all the traditions are fun and bring the families together it is also important to focus on the true meaning of this occasion. On this significant day people greet each other with words, – “Christ is risen from the dead.” However this should not be a once a year reflection but the foundation for everyday.
