Thank you so much for a great stay in Armenia! We enjoyed it. Hillary, USA

Dear All, I would like to say thank you very much for making my stay in Armenia and Georgia very enjoyable and much easier for me.  Without Envoy I might not have come at all, seeing your site and reading your reviews (and calling and speaking to Daniel) gave me the confidence to book my flight at the last minute, and I'm very glad I did.
I have a lot of photos, and they have come out quite well, so that is great too, that I can show people here what the Caucasus area is really like.  My very best wishes, Tom, UK

PS Weather here sucks (cold)! My job is already a bit boring again, but people were really nice and wrote welcome back on my desk.
PPS I watched the highlights of Armenia vs Czech on YouTube, and it seems Armenia were a bit unlucky to be thrashed 3 : 0.  Even neutral people said so.

Great experience, keep up the good work! thank you all for a good time! the friendly staff helped make our trip unforgettable. hope to be back soon. Robin, USA

We stayed a couple of days in Envoy Armenia, it was first time staying in hostels for me and I'd like to say thank you for the Hostel. Good location, clean, well organized. I'd like to note the friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Especially thanks to Karen. George, Georgia

Dear Envoy, I really like your accommodation and the place you are. Thanks for everything. See you soon :) Ratna, Georgia

What a fantastic place to stay. The staff are friendly, know what they are talking about, always willing to help and always happy to help with a genuine smile. The location is fantastic too, right in the middle of everything, but off the main road so its not noisy. After having stayed at a couple of the other hostels, this is the one i'll be coming back to. Why? They genuinely seem to care about the hostel itself, and its guests. Australia, Female 31-40, Rated 100% on HW

The staff were magnificent, day trips fantastic, fellow guests brilliant. Best hostal ever. From England, Female 41+, Rated 100% on HW

Envoy's best qualities are its staff and awesome tours. The hostel itself is really nice, although the kitchen is a little small. My only real issue was that in my room there was work going on in a weird adjoining room and workers were allowed to come and go throughout the day, and we also dealt with paint fumes. I feel like that was a one-off issue but still odd. Otherwise we had a great time and I would deifnitely recommend it! Gevorg, the tour guy rocks! From Canada, Female, 18-24, Rated 86% on HW

Owner Comment: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the impact of the rennovations you have experienced during your stay, and you are right it is a one off thing and will soon be completed. Unfortunately there is never a good time for these type of activities in a business that never sleeps :) However, your feedback has allowed us to take action on this by better informing our guests and trying to minimize the impact even more. We appreciate your review and hope to see you here again soon.

5 of 5 stars

I was in 2 minds about going to Armenia, especially at the end of March / start of April. I know no Armenian or Russian. I was drawn by a fascination with the history and culture of Armenia, especially Mount Ararat and the flood story, Armenian chess, and the band System of a Down.
I was certainly not disappointed! The people at the hostel in Yerevan, and the sister hostel in Tbilisi, are absolutely great, and made my trip very easy and enjoyable. The rooms were fine, and the positions of the hostels are great. People in general, to me, especially in Armenia, were great. I never experienced anything bad, and there was never a hard sell of any kind. The rivalry between Georgia and Armenia was very entertaining to me, and the people were very real and honest. Breakfast at both hostels will keep you going all morning (free and good).

“Sweet staff, clean bathrooms, excellent tours”

I've stayed in quite a few hostels around the world but this one really was one of the best. From the minute I booked, the staff was kind and helpful. They quickly answered all of my email questions and arranged an easy airport pick up for me (no problem that I was delayed by lost luggage -- they waited patiently). Once at the hostel, they helped me to book tours and find music venues in the city and get directions. Hranoush is the 22-year-old tour guide -- she speaks in perfect English and knows absolutely everything about the history of culture of Armenia. During a tour she also tells jokes, folk lore, and read our fortunes from the bottom of our coffee cups. We loved her so much that we took her out to dinner one night. Arpine, Lina, and Daniel were also sweet and helpful at all times. You could eat off the bathroom floors they were so clean. Whenever we wanted to leave the city for a few days the staff helped us arrange transport and GREAT accommodations. So pleased with our experience here -- would do it again in a heartbeat.

“Superior tour experience”

We had two day trips with Envoy: what a remarkable service. We have travelled in many countries, but I can honestly say that we have never experienced a better tour company.

Where to begin? The tour guide Arpine was extremely knowledgable and had a great sense of humour. She knew not only the details of the sights we visited, but had answers ready for any question we had about Armenia and had lots of interesting stories to tell.

The driver got us safely to our destinations- no small task given the challenging mountain roads. The initial email exchange was to the point. They turned up on time. They provided for highly fascinating lunches with local families- a unique experience. And the food was great too. In short, Arpine and Envoy Tours gave us a unique insight into Armenia and its people.

What a difference a great tour company can make! We definitely want to return to Armenia after this wonderful experience and needless to say, when we do, we will definitely contact Envoy tours and Arpine again.

“Unforgettable Yerevan..”

Yes, UNFORGETTABLE like the Nat King Cole song.
ARMENIA !!!! I love love the country and its people..
The Envoy tours are more personal, catered to what you want, need or like to see ,they make you feel like a friend traveler rather than a foriegn tourist.
Our guide Arpine, she is extremely knowledgeable about Armenian History, sights, culture, society, cuisine and many more with a great sense of humour.
Each trip included a lunch in the home of Armenian family which was a special opportunity to interact with local people,, each experience and the food they prepared being different from the other. ...visiting and dining with local families-very interesting, i love that part..we were lucky and thankful that Arpine showed us how local Armenian families live. I even got the recipes for the delicious tastefull Armenian food, for example..Armenian green salad in lemon juice n olive oil - simple yet amazing taste, sauteed grilled eggplant with tomatoes, Armenian BBQ called Khoravat, and many more....
Good to note that we had a careful excellent driver. He is fantastico.
We even got an extra monastery visit which was not on the plan but since it's close by they decided to take us there eventhough that means they have to drive back to Yerevan later than scheduled ..
Thank you Arpine and our driver for everything.
I will not hesitate recommending Envoy Tours Yerevan..They also have Envoy tours Tbilisi btw ...
Hands down best tour i ever participated. Unquestionably the best ....
Our experience in Armenia is indeed unforgettable. Highly recommended.

“Clean room with fast wifi, well organised tours!”

We arrived Yerevan on 26 Mar 2013, and have an enjoyable 3 days stay. Even though the staff gave us a wrong room without twin bed initially, he quickly salvage the situation but helping to store the luggages, and offering breakfast (which is not included since the breakfast should starts on 27 Mar). The wifi is available everywhere throughout the hostel, and there was not once I experience delay; I was even able to FaceTime with relatively good internet speed and clarity. The room on the top floor is clean and neat, and there were consistent flow of hot water from the shower. Unlike other places, we experienced occasional spurts of cold water from the shower. Overall, we have an enjoyable stay and the staffs were accommodating to our requests e.g. allowing our request to cancel our booking at last min, and try transferring one night stay to Envoy Tbilisi when we decide to travel to Tbilisi earlier than scheduled to our requests. They are always helpful and gave good recommendations on places to eat, and a good hostel to stay when they ran out of room.

On the tours, we signed up for 3 - Essential Armenia, Enlightened Armenia and Enlinking the Caucasus. On the 3 tours, we had an awesome time as the guide demonstrated good knowledge on the places we visited, and provide detailed background and history about each place. One thing that stood out relative to other hostels we stayed in is the excellent level of English spoken by these tour guides, and their good sense of humour, which makes the tour extra interesting and engaging.

I would recommend all first time visitors to Yerevan to stay in Envoy Hostel. You definitely wont regret it!

“More like cheap hotel than hostel - soulless!”

No charm, no character. Place is clean and that is the only plus i see. Staff treats you like in bank - less smiling though. They are trying to sell you theire "tours" - Do not do that if you know at least a bit how to get around. Tours for over 70 year old grandmas. Hated it ...

Management Response:

We believe what you have described is not at all typical of Envoy’s character and approach. We are known to possess a smiley character and a focus on customer service. We most certainly don't hard sell any of our services, including our tours but offer them as a service that many, many people really enjoy as can be seen by a large number of our guest's positive responses.

Having checked our records we have not identified anyone from Belgium taking our tours in Sep 2012, but either way please send us some more details and we will look further into your issues. We admit we can get things wrong sometimes and we look forward to feedback as an avenue for growth and an opportunity to improve our offering.

PS - Our service offerings are designed for everyone as can be seen by our hostel and tour guests who are of all ages and backgrounds.

I'm often sceptical of web pictures and online reviews that are always positive. With Envoy hostel you can be assured it is the real thing. Clean, safe, friendly, great staff, great location, good atmosphere...basically it's every thing you are looking for in a place to stay...and before I forget, the mattresses are clean and comfortable too (I hate hostels that have cheap, nasty ones). From all the hostels I have stayed at in Yereven over my 4 trips here, this is the one that I know keep coming back to.

“Friendly, accommodating, and helpful”
I met a very friendly staff the moment i walked into the Envoy Hostel. As my stay progressed they made me feel "part of the family." Whenever i asked for directions or other information they were always helpful and accurate.

Returning to the hostel after some weeks of traveling, the staff remembered me, welcomed me back, and asked about my travels. My adventure into Armenia was great fun and delight and the Envoy was a big part of it.

Besides, the Envoy is super clean, the bathrooms are modern and carefully kept.

“Clean Rooms, Great Staff”
I enjoyed staying at Envoy hostel very much. Staff are very friendly and rooms are clean. The hostel is located in one of the best locations in Yerevan. I 100% recommend it to all travelers. By Touristguy343, USA

“Yerevan's best budget place to stay”
Yerevan was my last stop on a 6-week trip and the hostel was one of the nicest, friendliest places I visited. I really appreciated the guest kitchen and free internet, and the English-speaking staff were very knowledgeable and helpful! The location is very good, a 10-min. walk away from Yerevan's main square.  I stayed in a windowless basement dorm that was a bit dreary but clean. Breakfast was minimal (bread, butter, jam, cheese and coffee or tea) so get some extra food from the supermarket across the street. By half_baked_potato, Canada

Liked: It is realllllllllly great hostel. Clean rooms and sheets for a bed. Location is also perfect. It is located in central of Yerevan. It takes 3 min. to the opera hall. and a lot of mini buses are running main road beside the hostel. Easy to go everywhere in yerevan. And I could get every information from the kindest reception in the world. They know every detail things and useful information for traveling in Armenia and what guests need. I just want to say 'thank you' to the reception girls.

Liked: Good clean hostel, excellent location (plenty of pubs & bars in the area), very friendly staff, good showers. I'd definitely recommend it. They organise daily tours, either full day ones reasonably priced, or shorter free walks. Breakfast was coffee with bread, butter, cheese & jams - while not exciting (it's a hostel, come on), the portions were generous. Nice kitchen, good computers, good common area.

Disliked: The only down thing was my dorm didn't have windows, but it's really not a criticism at these prices.
