It was just a pleasure to spend 4 nights at Envoy Hostel, which has the good sides of both a youth ....... and of a regular hostel. Have all people very friendly and helpful. I would recommend it without hesitation if I know people going in Armenia and the Caucasus area (I was please to know that is also Envoy hostel in Tbilisi). Robert, France

Was really great staying here! Best and most helpful, friendly and efficient reception and staff I have long come across while travelling and I travel a lot. Lorian, Austria

That is without any doubts the best hostel I have ever been. The atmosphere is so peaceful as the team is available, very friendly and professional. The possibility to take some Armenian Course is very welcome. The tours allow people travelling by themselves to visit beautiful sites far away from Yerevan and hard to reach without a car. Much can be done from Yerevan anyway. Thank you for these beautiful moments and the support you gave me "to keep me on foot between two" (authorized expression). Some will understand. Francois, France

We really enjoy our stay in Armenia and in Envoy Hostel. You made our time here even better by being so helpful. On the top of that the hostel is very comfortable and friendly. We may come back. Indeed the night we arrived we had not booked any beds and even though the hostel was full for the night, the staff at Envoy arranged us a place to stay in the basement. Those people will make sure you can stay somewhere. We love this place and YES, if we find ourselves in Armenia again we know where to stay. Thank you for everything. Claire & Joris, France/ Netherlands

Dear Envoy, Thank you so much for making our time in Yerevan so fab! We have come back to our room here 4 times in the last 3 weeks. In fact we have started to call it home and there have been days when we were out camping that we dreamed of your warm beds and hot shower. Thanks for being so helpful and friendly during our visit. Lots of love! GOLO, Yean, Jade, Kristy, Rachael, Rachel, Tori & Amy, UK

Thank you for your great hospitality! Arpine and the rest of the staff have been so helpful with all of our requests and travel issues. We learnt so much about this country on your tours as well. Sam & Ari, USA

Envoy Hostel is the best! The trip in Armenia was just wonderful! The team was super friendly!!! Thank you very much! I Love Maneh!

Nairi, France

The Envoy Hostel achieves good standards for cleanliness and organization. The staff is very professional but also cordial at the same time. They are also informative and helpful to the questions and needs of a traveler. The amenities offered like free internet, satellite TV and the use of the storage room + kitchen is exceptional. Overall, it would be difficult for other establishments to match. Jim, USA

I'll go with you, then,
Since you must play this game of ghosts. At listening-posts
We'll peer across dim craters and joke with jaded men
Whose names we've long since forgotten.

Karen (in the night shift) had been the most helpful person in the Envoy Hostel. Thanks him for advising that we cannot return from Nagorno Karabakh on Monday, which means we could not fly back to our country. Also he looks very carefully to make us happy, thinking in an attentive way: Karen is a very good value for the Envoy Hostel. Thanks Karen. From Barcelona

Thank you to the Envoy Hostel Team for making my stay just perfect. It’s a beautiful place, just as Armenia.

Last day-Second Message

Check-out time today…Thinking back and reflecting I have to say that Envoy had a big part in making my stay so perfect. Didn’t get to know everybody from Envoy too closely but here a special thank to people I want to mention:

Marina-you are just a pearl! I was lucky during all my stay and most lucky perhaps having met you. With your very good advices and your so friendly way-always smiling-it was a huge pleasure seeing you. Thank you so much-you’ve made my stay brilliant. All the best for whatever will surprise you in your life!

Arpine: had the chance to do one tour with you. Wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed that tour. You have a deep knowledge about Armenia, the side facts you gave us from time to time made it really interesting!

Daniel: Whenever coming back ‘home’ late you welcomed me with a smile. It was very nice having met you!

Karen: I still owe you a beer!:) We had a nice evening together in Calumet. Thanks for that-hope everything that you are planning will work out!

Marine: Only got to know you on that Calumet evening but that I really enjoyed! It’s a pity I couldn’t do a tour with you but nevertheless: you are a clever and very friendly person-keep that!:)

To all of you: thanks for being so good to me, for remembering-Anahit & Ani. By Markus, Austria

What cheerful and helpful staff at Envoy Hostel, we had a nice stay. Calumet bar around the corner is also great for a drink and chatting. By Ian, Australia

My stay@ Envoy Hostel

This was the cheapest place to stay but by far the best accommodation that I have seen during my 3week stay in Armenia. Besides that it is very clean, the main reason for being the best place is the staff. Everybody is very friendly here and makes one a great stay in the city.

To the owner of the Envoy I want to say: If you want to remain so popular among guests it’s a good idea to do everything to keep the staff-for me they are the main reason for the success.

So all the best to all of you and go on with the great service that I really appreciated a lot!

Thanks a lot, that’s all I can say! By Markus, Austria

Thanks a lot: Visa support, hospitality, tours, everything was perfect. By Nicholas, Belgium

We really enjoyed Armenia very much and your hostel had its important role in that. We travel a lot and basically always stay in hostels. We think that your hostel is the best. We liked everything - location, breakfast, comfortable and spacious common room and of course our room. But the most we liked your kind and helpful staff. Special thanks to Hovhannes for a warm welcome and check in of early tourists because from him we started our experience of knowing your hostel and Armenian hospitality. Thanks a lot. We will recommend your hostel to all our friends. By Nadezhda and Anna, Russia

Hostelworld.com

I have stayed at over 100 hostels and I would rate this top three. Excellent!! Rated 97% on HW.

The Envoy hostel is one of the most well-organized hostels I have ever come across. The location is great, the facilities offer all the amenities one could hope for. The dorms have big lockers and A/C. They offer a variety of tours and the staff is always there to give you a hand, whatever you are looking for. Special kudos to Lucine, who is doubtless one of the best staffers I have ever met! Big common room downstairs makes it easy to meet people. Definitely the place to stay in Yerevan! Canada, Rated 97% on HW.

a huge personal locker for every guests in dorm. very high ceiling for guests who will use bottom beds so that you can sit on the bed using laptop computer. very clean and spacious dorms. A young female staff who had studied in America (I don't remember the name) was really friendly and helpful. South Korea, Female Rated 97% on HW.

Good hostel. Very helpful staff. Ireland, Male 41+ Rated 87% on HW.

I stayed most of my time in Yerevan in a private residence for free but after staying at Envoy for the time I did I would actually have preferred to have paid to stay at Envoy the whole time! Super clean, the best staff + the location is brilliant. I highly recommend all the tours as the guides are hilarious, excellent with their knowledge + getting to fit so much in each tour means the best use of time while travelling.Buses + drivers also brilliant. Envoy gives you the best experience! Australia, Female 31-40, Rated 100% on HW.

What a fantastic place to stay. The staff are friendly, know what they are talking about, always willing to help and always happy to help with a genuine smile. The location is fantastic too, right in the middle of everything, but off the main road so its not noisy. After having stayed at a couple of the other hostels, this is the one i'll be coming back to. Why? They genuinely seem to care about the hostel itself, and its guests. Australia, Female 31-40, Rated 100% on HW

The hostel is really great. Clean, good location, good staff and great tours. In a word fantastic. Spain, Rated 96% on HW

Nice people, very nice hotel except little prejudice if you are Turkish from one member of staff which I feel unfair. I definitely would recommend it to anybody (including Turkish :) UK, Male, 41yr+, Rated 93% on HW

Management Response:

Envoy is well known for making all their guests feel welcome. We definitely do not have any prejudice against any people. All our guests are considered as friends and we welcome all nationalities. To date we have had almost 80 nationalities represented at Envoy and we celebrate the diversity that brings.

A very centrally located hostel that is clean, spacious, with plenty of amenities and a friendly, English-speaking staff. Excellent place to stay in Yerevan.

USA, Male 25-30, Rated 93% on HW

Just Great! From Japan, Rated 100% on HW

Envoy Hostel is like finding 20,000 dram (50 dollars) in the pocket of an old jacket. The locations is fantastic. It is close to a variety of restaurants, clubs, THE OPERA, everything. Literally. The facilities are excellent as well with a large common area, fantastic showers, and different games like wii to bring the different guest together. The letters I have left will not do any justice to describe how awesome Gevorg, Ani, and Anahit are. I have fallen in love with all three. TAKE THEIR TOUR From USA, Male 25-30, Rated 100% on HW

I'll make this succinct as possible: Wonderful; great fun (the staff and other guests were great); comfortable (central heating and atmosphere); ideal location (close to food, FUN, and architecture); Helpful and generous staff. I was traveling through Yerevan, planning one night, stayed an extra night. Thank you, Envoy! From USA, Male 25-30, Rated 100% on HW

This is a great hostel in Yerevan. The staff are extremely friendly and super helpful, which makes the stay in Yerevan so much better. The best thing about it is the free walking tour. My guide, Marine, was knowledgeable, interesting and so nice! It couldn't have been better and I wouldn't have been disappointed if I'd paid $50 for it. The hostel is in a great location within easy walking distance to everything. Wifi is free, fast and available everywhere. It's very clean. Definitely stay here. From Australia, Female 31-40, Rated 90% on HW

Staffs are helpful. My flight arrive late mid-night. Staff let me rest in a room for couple of hours. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is average, but I don't expect much with this price. From Hong Kong, Male 41+, Rated 86% on HW

Wonderful and helpful staff. Only disadvantage: bathroom was smelly (sewage smell from pipes/drains). Location is perfect. They offer very well organised tours while still the feel of independant travel. Excellent! From Netherlands, Female 41+, Rated 90% on HW

Peg and I have stayed in many hostels worldwide over the past 20 years. Without doubt, Envoy Hostel is our all time favorite. Free breakfast, very friendly and competent staff, and security was excellent. Most impressive is their free daily 2-hour Yerevan walking tour. Earlier we toured Yerevan with a group tour and found that the Envoy tour conducted by Anahit provided an unexpected dimension of understanding about Armenia and Yerevan. Envoy exceeded our very high Hostelworld expectations! From USA, Couple 41+, Rated 100% on HW.

Perhaps little expensive but very helpful and well organized. From France, Male 41+, Rated 86% on HW

I loved the hostel. I was only going to stay for 1-night but after being greeted by Anahit and looking around, I knew I had to stay for longer. I staying for 4 nights and took two tours. I took the Essential Armenia and Enlinking Caucasus (from Yerevan to Tbilisi) and thought both were wonderful! I recommend then to everyone. Breakfast was always nice. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Location was wonderful. The free internet computers were great. Go to Armenia and stay at Envoy! From USA, Male 31-40, Rated 100% on HW

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Secure, spotlessly clean, never had to queue for bathroom in a whole week, nice and helpful staff, liked the kitchen, free internet, common room, really, there was no single bad thing about it, except, perhaps the fact that the rooms generally don't have a window and it lacks some character. Otherwise, perfect. I loved the tours as well. From Romania, Female 25-31, Rates 96% on HW

Clean, central hostel with helpful staff. Recommended. From Anonymous, Rated 100% on HW

Like an oasis in the dessert, I never expected a 5 star hostel like this in Armenia - its something your more likely to see in Western Europe or Australia, a hostel with all the fine details. Super clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great sheets, air con, lockers, big common area and kitchen, breakfast, lots of bathrooms & showers, 3 desktop computers and WiFi, excellent location, and great friendly knowledgeable staff! I was really really impressed, and definitely recommend staying here. From Australia, Male 25-30, Rated 96% on HW

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed. Especially they have free walking tours and day tours at affordable prices which make life so easy. Their kitchen and lounge are so cool and lockers in rooms are spacey. Great place to meet other people too! From South Korea, Female 25-30, Rated 100% on HW

The staff were magnificent, day trips fantastic, fellow guests brilliant. Best hostal ever. From England, Female 41+, Rated 100% on HW

Envoy's best qualities are its staff and awesome tours. The hostel itself is really nice, although the kitchen is a little small. My only real issue was that in my room there was work going on in a weird adjoining room and workers were allowed to come and go throughout the day, and we also dealt with paint fumes. I feel like that was a one-off issue but still odd. Otherwise we had a great time and I would deifnitely recommend it! Gevorg, the tour guy rocks! From Canada, Female, 18-24, Rated 86% on HW

I liked a lot the hostel, it is situated in the city center, the staff is friendly, it was very clean and the breakfast was nice. People were very kind and helpful! From Ukraine, Female 25-30, Rated 100% on HW

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in, very professional with extremely friendly attitude! Rooms are spacious, beds very comfy, each has a locker (you need your own padlock), but they were not necessary as the hostel and the location (central!) are very safe. The hostel is very clean, has great common room and good breakfast. We also took part in excursions organized by the hostel - highly recommended, great guides, atmosphere and choice of places worth visiting. 100% is not enough:) From Poland, Female, 25-30, Rated 100% on HW

The staff were extremely helpful. The tours the hostel provided were all amazing! From USA, Rated 96% on HW

Envoy is everything good about a hostel. It's totally safe, central to basically everything in Yerevan, and the staff are really cool. They have staff in the common room if you want to chill with them and there are always heaps of people (mainly Peace Corp, sure) so it can be a lot of fun if that's what you want. “7 nights, no worries”

In travelling, I want to explore the country, the city, the place I'm in and at the same time, I don't want to worry about my Hostel. Therefore I chose a place to stay, where I find rest after a long day and plenty of experiences, where I find other travellers to share adventures and impressions and where every question I do have, gets an answer. The Envoy was (for that reason) one of the best places I ever stayed while travelling. They offer everything you wish, and serve it in a charming and very friendly style.
I also booked a tour with Envoy. The "embracing armenia"-tour. It was excellent. A guide who not only shows you beautiful places and talk about their history, but who is also able to answer all your questions about armenian society and the life in the country. I was so amazed by that tour, that I booked "enlightened armenia" too. This tour I liked even better. After one week at Envoy I had made every tour they offer and left with the knowledge not to find a place like this very soon again.

“Excellent tour”

I didnt stay here - however I booked a tour with this company. Throughout all my dealings with the hostel - the staff were the best I encountered anywhere in the country. The hostel appears clean and well run (the inmates appeared more than content with their lot). The tour was excellent & our guide (Arpine) was marvellous. I can pay her & the hostel no highwer compliment than to say on my return to Armenia that these are the tours I shall use. Thanks very much.

“Awesome hostel in Yerevan!”

I've booked two of their tours and found them to be great value. If you have limited time in Armenia and want to make the most of it, these tours are a good way to see most of the sights the country is renowned for and to experience much in a short period of time. Mane, in particular, is a knowledgeable and fun guide. Just keep her away from mulberry trees! All in all, the Envoy hostel just might be your best bet in the Armenian capital!

“First Hostel Experience - Fantastic!”

I've never stayed at a hostel before and Envoy was my first time. The staff was helpful and friendly. The three of us had a 4-person room to ourselves because it wasn't a busy weekend. A breakfast of bread, jam, cheese, butter, and boiled egg or hot dog is included. My favorite part was the location. It was very close to everywhere we wanted to go in downtown. We stayed there for three nights, and not once did we need to take a cab or bus

“A real gem”

Envoy is very popular with travelers and backpackers and after staying there for one night I could clearly see why! I have rarely seen such a nice, welcoming place, incredibly clean and with many nice touches that are unknown not only in most hostels but also in many hotels. It is not maybe the cheapest option in town but is totally worth the price. The rooms are spotless and they provide blamkets and towels, there is a filling breakfast included, tea and coffee are available for free all day and so is the internet (with three computers and wi-fi). The reception is open 24h and can provide any type of help and support. The location is perfect, very central but very quiet at the same time, and Yerevan itself was a joy, very tidy, beautiful and friendly. Envoy organises tours as well, I tried one and was very good, perfectly organised in a nice and friendly atmosphere and with an excellent guide.

“The best hostel I have ever been to”

This is the best hostel I have ever been to. It is also the cleanest hostel I have ever seen, and staffed by the nicest people I have ever met. I travel a lot and I stay at a lot of hostels. This is the one place that lives up to its reputation completely. It is very easy to find, very safe, full of nice and interesting people, and they are very helpful. They organized a (cheap, definitely worth it) brandy tour for us, had free maps and lots of information, and were in a very central location. It is also SO CLEAN. It was like a hotel but with really awesome backpackers everywhere. I will recommend this place to every single person I know. THANK YOU, ENVOY

I'm often sceptical of web pictures and online reviews that are always positive. With Envoy hostel you can be assured it is the real thing. Clean, safe, friendly, great staff, great location, good atmosphere...basically it's every thing you are looking for in a place to stay...and before I forget, the mattresses are clean and comfortable too (I hate hostels that have cheap, nasty ones). From all the hostels I have stayed at in Yereven over my 4 trips here, this is the one that I know keep coming back to.

“The Best Tour!!!”

I stayed in Envoy Hostel for 4 nights and joined 3 different tours. Marina (not sure am I spell it right >.<") is the great tour guide I have ever met and I strongly recommend all u guys who travel to Armenia should join their tours.
The hostel is good, rooms are clean, good wifi connection, staff are nice, good location, breakfast provided, hot shower 24 hrs, nothing can complain.

“Contender for best hostel in the world?”

I stayed at Envoy for around 3 weeks, and have never felt more at home. The downstairs lounge area is a fantastic place to meet people over the free breakfast (which is quite filling and yummy), or just generally hang around in.

The beds are good quality, spaced well, you have your own light for reading, and the showers and bathrooms were super-clean all the time and well designed so you felt comfortable when using them.

The location is excellent with the superb Calumet bar/club literally just around the corner, and all other day/night activities in Yerevan all within walking distance.

The best thing abou Envoy is the staff though. I can't convey how great a team they are. They all actually care about Armenia and Yerevan and lead the tours themselves. They're very knowledgable in all areas and always willing to assist and beyond the call of duty, seriously!

Thanks to everybody there for all the good times, hopefully see you again some time :)

“The best one!”

Well, I stayed in a basic dormitory but it was ok. Lockers available, common area nice, breakfast basic but ok.

The best things were:

- location in the center
- great staff in the reception
- really, really, really well organized, affordable and nice tours around Armenia.

I do recommend it for your stay in Yerevan / Armenia as it is difficult to find something nicer in such price.

“Awesome hostel!!!”

I lived in Armenia for 2 years and stayed at Envoy many times during that time. I always felt right at home. It's a great place to meet cool people as well. I loved the staff, the location, the beds, and the showers are second to none. You will not be disappointed.

“Envoy Hostel in Yerevan, Armenia, comes recommended”

In the Caucas countries, Envoy Hostel is a hostel that has got it right.

It has a particularly convenient, central location, it is kept meticulously clean, there are free tea and coffee making facilities, and an excellent kitchen should you wish to cook something for yourself. The showers are clean and the hot water is hot. In the rooms, each bed has an individual reading light, a small shelf, and a cupboard where you can store (and lock) your belongings and backpack. There is also a comfortable lounge. Quite clearly a lot of thought has been put into the design and running of this hostel. It has been modelled to the highest standards that one would commonly find in hostels throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand... There is free wi-fi access and a couple of terminals on which you can access the internet (for free) if you don´t have your own computer. I was in Yerevan in November 2011 and there were intermittent snowfalls. This hostel did not skimp on the heating and the environment inside was always very comfortable and inviting. Some rooms do not have a window, personally this was not an issue.

What particularly sets this hostel apart from other hostels and guesthouses in the Caucas region is the knowledgable staff. You can actually ask staff about things such as places to visit, where to find things, how to get to places (both within Yerevan and in the rest of the country) and the staff actually know answers and will willingly assist. If they don´t happen to know, they will try their best to find out for you. This is a concept that is not yet understood in the Caucas countries. I have been to too many other hostels / guesthouses in the Caucas region where the faciities were comfortable but the staff / hosts knew absolutely nothing. The government (in its 'wisdom') has closed the tourist office in Yerevan, so this level of service at the Envoy Hostel is even more valuable.

There are many things to see around Yerevan, and Envoy also run tours if you wish to take part, or are short on time. Note that there is no 'hard sell'. You are absolutely welcome to stay at the hostel and not go on tours - staff will still be helpful and assist you with information to visit places independently. All reception staff and tour guides speak excellent English (and Russian).

In summary, Envoy Hostel is an excellent establishment, and comes highly recommended. Congratulations to all the staff at the hostel, and please keep up the good work!

“Envoy hostel‏ - Armenia”

After many trips around the world (India, Nepal, Laos, Morocco, Georgia, Jordan ...) as a backpacker, I got to this special envoy hostel.
This hostel is located in the center of Yerevan next to everything you need as a traveler (pubs, restaurants, super 24 / 7 ...) brought me 6 nights (5 more than the what i planed) of fun and a perfect base to other places in Armenia.
The team, speaks fluent English, willing to help at the smallest level (bus lines help) thrugh a full vacation planning if necessary.
the type of the hostel (shared-rooms / living room / kitchen) introduced me to people from all over the world (typical evening meeting: 1 - Israeli (me) 3 - Poles 1 - Irani 2 - French 1 - U.S sits together.)
the free internet, the TV ,the reading area the .... Needless to add,the place is well run, conducted by a Ambition Australian guy who collected all the qualities of a good hostel for the independent traveler and applied them to this perfect place called envoy!

though I travel on a budget and I found less expensive places I have no regrets for chosing this place and marking it as one Mfninotih Acsniiih of Armenia

Wish you all enjoy and feel what I felt :)

Dan

“Possibly the best budget accommodation in the area.”

I have to agree with the other reviews here, the Envoy hostel is possible the best budget accommodation in the area. The hostel has a great location, just one block from one of the main shopping streets, and near two supermarkets. The hostel is warm, bright and very clean, rooms were spacious although basic but did have lockers. It has a good kitchen for guests, and also a nice lounge area as well (free computers for guests to use as well). The hostel feels more like a budget hotel than hostel, very smart and well run. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and security was good too.

Highly recommended by me, so if you are looking for a bright, clean and warm hostel with high standards, then this one has to be on the short list.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor, these are better than the below ground rooms.

“Excellent value for money”

My wife and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Armenia, after savoring its historical sights. This trip was very enjoyable thanks to our stay at the Envoy Hostel and Tours. They have helpful and friendly staff who speak good English.

As with a trip to any new and uncommon travel destination for Indians, we were initially clueless about which hotels and tour agents to pick. Our task was made simpler by tripadvisor as envoy hostel had a very good rating and we became confident when we saw the comments from fellow travellers. We also visited the lonelyplanet thorntree forum and we saw many postings from envoy hostel to the questions. We were impressed with the unbiased, professional and marketing-free nature of replies.

Highlights of our stay -
1) Excellent pre-trip communication. We were in touch with them through e-mail and they were prompt and helpful in reply
2) We chose their airport pickup service at Yerevan. While this is not cheap (7500 AMD), for first-time visitors to a country this is worth the money, instead of being ripped off by taxis
3) We chose a private room with ensuite bathroom. Due to some repair work being done on the room, we were given a 4-bed dorm as a private room for 2 days, with shared bathrooms. The dorm, rooms, shared bathrooms are spotlessly clean and spacious too.
4) The common area and kitchen made you feel at home - magazines, TVs, computers free to use, board games, plush sofas/carpets, etc. Again spotlessly clean, this was a cosy area to grab the free tea/coffee or to browse the net and catch up with e-mails
5) Tours - good value for money, especially due to the knowledgeable guides (We had the same guide Arpine thoughout the trip), and the absolutely wonderful lunch with an Armenian family. We were strict vegetarians, but the hostel had made special efforts to serve us vegetarian food. The food was delicious.
6) location - can't ask for a better location. Situated right in downtown, within a walking distance to important landmarks and shopping areas - Matanadaran, Cascade, Northern Avenue, Republic Square, Abovyan St

Overall a great experience and excellent value for money.

The only area where they could improve is the variety in their breakfast. Although the free breakfast was sumptuous, and they tried serving the occasional sour cream, eating just bread and butter/cheese/jelly can get boring for vegetarians like us, especially as the restaurants outside don't open until 10-11 am. The hotel can consider adding some variety - Tan, salads, fruits, juices, etc.

“Friendly, central and helpful”

My husband and I as an older couple thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good range of fellow travellers to share experiences with.
Airport pick up was dearer than other options, but at 1.20 am we wanted a reliable service which is what it was.
We stayed in the separate double bed room, clean and private. Breakfast was good, now served with an egg or sausage.
The tour we took was interesting and informative (lunch with a local family was great)and they even arranged transport for our next part of the trip. Cheers from the Australian couple.

“They treat you like family..excellent tours and staff”

In September, I used their hostel accommodations and participated in four of their tours. I highly recommend their excellent inexpensive meet and greet airport service I was met at the Yerevan airport in the wee hours of the morning after having arrived on a delayed flight from Heathrow with BMI. The driver was waiting for me. He was a most wonderful man who although had limited English capabilities made sure that I was comfortable before setting off for the hostel.

I am in my 60s and this was my first time using hostel services since my youth travelling days. The single room that I reserved online was spotlessly clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was everything that I expected that it would be plus more. I had a great night's sleep as everything was extremely quiet since the hostel is located on a very quiet safe street. In the morning the bubbly staff helped me get money from a nearby ATM machine located at a local super-market which is a 3 minute walk from the hostel. I forget the young lady's name but she could not do enough to make sure that I was OK. She helped me with every question and concern that I had. I was treated royally by all their breakfast staff who served me a very satisfying meal. Their free email service is locate in the breakfast area. All four of the tours that I selected from their website before arriving were totally EXCELLENT. All the guides spoke perfect English. They were extremely well informed and I could not stump them with any of my non stop questions. The tour groups were small and therefore we were all given excellent individual attention. it was in fact like getting a private tour. If someone saw something that they wanted a picture of something while en route, a stop was made if it was safe to do so. The vehicles were new, the drivers were all excellent and highly professional in regards to passenger and vehicle safety. I give them a 10 out of 10 rating.

I am a worldly traveller and a picky one at that. I must say that I was totally surprised at the services that were offered at Envoy.
I had many many email communications with Gevorg (George) before coming to Yerevan. He answered every one of my emails with extreme detail. He made sure that I was satisfied with all his suggestions. He gave me information that went beyond his job description. I even had him as a guide for two of my day tours (plus do not miss out his free am and pm tours of Yerevan). This young man is a walking encyclopedia of Armenia. He is an extremely dedicated professional who wants everyone to be happy and leave Armenia with nothing but pleasant experiences. He and I instantly became good friends. He goes beyond the call of duty when it comes to making sure that you are being well looked after.

Arpine Yesayan is also an excellent guide who made my Armenian experience an unforgetable one. She has a wealth of valuable information about Armenian culture. I cannot praise her enough for her job well done! Her charming and gracious personality makes her an instant winner when it comes to professional guiding.. she is a Godsend for this company. I have even received followup material from her after my tours with her. I have never had that happen before... this gesture shows how seriously these young people take their job.

Envoy Hostel and Tours has scored perfect marks from me. They are what other hostels and tour agencies should take model from.
I miss you guys !!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

“Envoy Hostel, the best way to experience yerevan and Armenia”

Armenia is known for it's hospitality, and Envoy is one of the finest examples of this that one can find. The premises are clean and comfortable, and the staff is warm and personable making you feel as if someone is welcoming you into their own home. In a great location in the center of the city, Envoys boast that everything in Yerevan is accessible by foot is very true. Their tour packages are terrific whether it is the 4 hour Soviet tour within Yerevan, or one of the tours to the outlying areas to see UNESCO sites or the historic Armenia that you should not miss if one is inclined to spend some time in Armenia.

Envoy will make your stay in Armenia one you will always remember with joy and a smile coming to your face.

Room Tip: All are fine whether you book one alone or share with strangers.

“Wonderful 3 days with Envoy Tours”

My husband and I traveled to Armenia late September, 2011 and had made arrangements for 3 days of tours with Envoy Tours using Yerevan as our base. They will make special arrangements for you based on your individual interests. We had a private guide and driver - and a wonderful experience. Our guide Marine P was absolutely a gem. As well as seeing the sites, she shared with us her rich understanding of Armenian historian and culture. The tour included 2 lunches in Armenian homes which was a special opportunity to interact with local people. They also arranged for our transportation to our next destination - Tbilisi, Georgia. They are the best ! By Rebecca S, USA

“Wonderful people and great organized tours”

After I had booked a room in there, I exchanged a lot of emails with the staff asking hundreds of questions and they were all very patient and professional. I could book and arrange everything with them before I flew to Armenia.

With regards to room, it was ok, simple and nice. Air con unit inside, lockers, clean. Clean bathrooms with hot water all the time. Meeting spot was spacious and nice with some computers I could use for free and the kitchen was well equipped as well.

The location of the hostel is right in the city center with walking distance to all most important places in Yerevan. There is a 24/7 supermarket on the corner where you can buy food and other stuff. It has also got currency exchange office by the entrance to the supermarket.

What I found the most fantastic about Envoy was the people and the tours they organize. Their staff was extremely helpful.

Envoy tours is a perfect way to experience Armenia when you don't have much time. I had only 3,5 day, so I decided to go on 2 tours (Essential and Enlightened Armenia). I loved them, they were affordable, interesting and included lunch with Armenian families that I very much enjoyed. Definitely try one of their tours!

One thing that is not as perfect is the airport pick up. I booked that as I was landing at 4:55 am and I didn't want to bother with taxis, price negotiations and searching for the right address, but I knew the airport transfer they offer is very much overpriced (7500 amd compared to 2000 amd that I paid on the way back to the airport). It was nice to be picked up by them, but just know it costs a lot for the distance you need to make.

Overall it is a perfect place to stay in Yerevan and I think they deserve no.1 position in the city!

Big thanks to Envoy Hostel in Yerevan!

Room Tip: I chose dorm, which was ok. There are privates, but it costs much more (I think 20,000 AMD comparing to 8000 for a dorm). By martinwu, Poland

Dear Martin,

Thanks for your wonderful words about Envoy. Everyone here is very pleased to know that you liked staying with us and taking our tours.

As for the airport pick up, you are correct that the service is more expensive than a taxi however, unfortunately there are extra parking fees and delays in flights which get taken into account as our driver waits till our guests arrives. The drop offs are much cheaper because the taxi drivers don't have these costs or waiting - so you'll find that even the taxi ride from the airport to the city on arrival is actually around 5000AMD. Many of our guests opt to take a taxi or minibus and we even have this information available on our website to be as helpful as possible and to provide options to suit everyone.

We really hope you had great experience in Armenia and we would love to see you back in our beautiful country someday.

Best regards,

Envoy Team

“Just can't say enough”

My wife & I took one of Envoy's day tours (Mt. Aragats sites & hiking) and loved it. It was a small group and the guides were amazing...not because they were just so knowledgeable (which they were), but because they were so focused on the folks on the tour...we even 'saved' a lost hiker on Aragats. They just handled everything perfectly...and - oh my goodness - the food was fantastic! However, it was after the trip when I was really sold. With no other interaction, the staff at Envoy helped us arrange a lift to Goris (the very next morning) and one of the folks even...well, they went WAY above & beyond helping us get this wonderful, handcrafted musical instrument weeks after our trip! Seriously, I just cannot say enough good about the folks at Envoy. By dubhglas, USA

“Excellent Day Trips!”

My husband and I took one of the Envoy Tours. It was fantastic. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about Armenian history and the significance of the places we visited. They interacted wonderfully with those of us on the tours and took an interest in what we were doing in Armenia. These tours are definitely an excellent value.

When we got back to the hostel at the end of the tour, the front desk staff helped us arrange a taxi out of Yerevan, which helped us immensely. Overall, the Envoy staff were super helpful and really willing to help out. By kalley642, USA

“Amazing day tours!”

We recently were in Armenia and were fortunate enough to book 4 tours with Envoy. They were the best (we did one day tour with another company and was not impressed or felt it was a good use of our money). We saw places all over the country, had a fantastic guide (Arpine) who knew so many facts and dates and details, it was amazing. Can not recommend the tours enough to anyone who wants to see more of Armenia and also be educated about history, current events and culture. Totally fantastic! These tours were the best use of our time and money!!! By BethUSA, USA

 “Excellent Day Trips”

I did not stay at the hostel but I did go on two of the day tours they organise. Both trips were interesting, covering a good number of Armenia's 'must sees'. Our excellent guide was well-informed and good fun. The groups were small (5 and 3 people respectively) and so the trips made for a fun day out with people of different nationalities.

Each trip included a lunch in the home of an Armenian family which was very interesting, each experience (and the menu) being different from the other. Regarding my second trip, there was an organisational problem but Envoy did a very good job in sorting this out to my complete satisfaction: they are very customer and solution orientated.

“A home from home”

I stayed at Envoy with a group of 5 other young women from the UK. We were taking part in a project with the Armenian Girl Guides (NUGGGS) and Envoy was our base during the project.

It was most definitely the best hostel I have ever stayed at, and better than some cheap motels and hotels. The hostel was very clean and the facilities were excellent, with a good communal area, air con, nice warm showers, an iron you can borrow, board games, nintendo wii etc. The breakfast is simple but tasty and it makes a good start to the day.

The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help. The hostel is safe and secure and there are organised walks, activities and excursions. The local SAS supermarket is open 24hrs which is very convenient, and they sell everything you could want including imported food goods from France, the USA, Italy etc so you needn't miss out on home comforts!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Armenia - you will be sure of a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

“Super Fun, Super Friendly!”

I was an English teacher in Georgia and decided to take one last trip before returning home! Considering most of my friends had already left I was solo! That almost made me not want to go. But I'm so glad I did! I took the Tbilisi-Yerevan Enlinking the Caucuses tour to get over and it was a blast! I ended up being the only one but the tour guide, Marine, was so much fun! It was a great way to arrive at Envoy in style!

While at Envoy I took tours almost daily! I had a short time in the country and I wanted to see the most I could see! The tours were so much fun! The guides were friendly and full of interesting information about the sites we were seeing! I really enjoyed them.

I worried about going to the country solo, uncertain of who I'd hang out with in my off time. Turns out, I didn't need to worry! Everyone at Envoy was incredibly nice and I found a few other guests to hang out with! I went out every night. If you want to go out, there's a great bar call Calamet within walking distance. If you want to wander around the city, their night tour is beautiful! If you want to stay in, I found no one who would cause you any trouble! They even have activities at the hostel nightly! That and being within walking distance of a 24 hour supermarket? You can't lose!

If you're going to Yerevan I HIGHLY recommend you stay at Envoy! I've already told all my friends about it!

Room Tip: Any and all of the rooms are amazing! Just decide what you want and ask! They're super helpful!

“I Loved the Staff!”

Hi all,
I was at Envoy for only one night, yet I loved all staff members - they were all extremely nice and helpful!
Guess this is what gives a stay away from home a "I'm staying with friends" feeling.
Thank you Anahit & Karen!

“Good and Professional”

I stayed at the envoy for a couple of night and did some tours with them. the hostel is clean, safe and reasonably priced for yerevan. the facilities are good and there is a small supermarket and an atm machine just around the corner. the tours are done well with good guides and drivers. breakfast is a bit simple but i guess nobody expect any delicacys from a hostel breakfast, its a few slices of bread with some cheese, butter and jam plus coffee or tea...

Hi Sebasitan

Thanks for your review and feedback. Just a quick note to say that we have since added eggs and yoghurt to our breakfast - they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day - so now our guests will have an even better start to their day :)

Hope to see you in Yerevan again one day

"I felt at home in Envoy!"

I was staying in envoy hostel for 8 nights altogether. I went to Georgia and Iran for a few days each. Envoy was like my central station, staff very friendly and helpful, and kept my second bag in the storage room for free for many days. The kitchen, common area, rooms, toilets and showers were spotless. I made a good few friends there from around the world, not to mention Marina, Maria and Gevorg (Soviet Yerevan) were excellent. Ali from Iran/Ireland.

“Best hostel in Caucasus”

I stayed at Envoy for a few nights on my trip to Armenia, and can recommend it to other travellers who are looking for an affordable and good place to stay. It is certainly not a hotel, but a very, very decent hostel.

The staff is very friendly, speak good English, and really go out of their way to help you.
Rooms are decent (although I stayed in a dorm without windows) and have AC.
Breakfast is okay, bathrooms are spotless and there's free wifi.

Room Tip: The dorms downstairs are more quiet than upstairs.

"Great hostel - everything you need."

The hostel is located right in the center of Yerevan, located some 10 minutes walk from the Opera. In the immediate vicinity there are several small shops and restaurants. I had one of the single rooms which are located in a separate apartment in the house - a spacious room with comfortable bed - and access to other home furnishings such as fridge, kitchenette and washing machine. In the basement of the hostel has a lounge, where breakfast is served, there are three computers for free use, a Wii and other recreational activities. Internet is free, fast and stable. I've booked a tour of the hostel - excellent. A very personal and professional leadership through various monasteries and churches and other sights. All staff are very personable, and strive to please. An absolute recommendation!

“Great place to stay w/ helpful cheerful staff”

I had amazing time in Yerevan especially for the Envoy hostel. Envoy was really full but the guys made me extra bed, helped me with my plans and itinerary. I even forgot my laundery there when I returned to Georgia and they sent me my stuff all the way to Slovakia. I was traveling from Beijing to Slovakia in land, over 11 000km and this was one of my top spot places where I had stayed.

Thank you for everything!

“Loved the Soviet Tour!”

The Soviet tour was imaginative and interesting - a part of Armenian history that you won't get elsewhere. Recent history, but already long ago. It was fascinating to see the sites that still exist, but what made the tour fun was the acting of Gevorg, the guide, as he described the rules and requirements of Soviet life, and how happy people were then...

"Best hostel in town and offers fantastic tour"

The Envoy hostel was recommended to me by friends and turned out to be really useful tip. While it is a hostel, has next to dorms with bunk beds and also single rooms. I had an 8-bed room that was further delineated by a wall inside the room, so it was actually a quadruple room. Interior clean sheets in addition to including a bedside lamp and a lockable cabinet with a padlock. The rooms are cleaned daily and shared washrooms with multiple daily doses. Also, free Wi-Fi available throughout the building. The Envoy is a great place to know people from all over the world to learn. Also offered are tours throughout Armenia, in which you can book themselves for little money. Smaller groups can hire even a minibus with a driver who drives desired destinations. The people in the hostel are really knowledgeable and helpful, also speak properly in English and Russian. The location is in a side street in the center, there is about 5 minutes to the Opera Square and Freedom Square. I would stay there again any time and can recommend the hostel to all backpackers and budget travelers.

“SIMPLY ENVOY :)”

Hello Every1, If you are in Armenia or looking to come to Armenia then Envoy is the place to be. good place, great people and superb breakfast. all in all it's a jackpot :) hope to visit again. I miss Armenia alot. with love from India regards, Arun.By Arun, India

“Excellent hostel with friendly and helpful staff”
I have stayed at the hostel at least once a month over the past year and always find it clean, safe, and in a very convenient location. It is in a neighborhood surrounded by restaurants and cafes, museums, shops, the opera house and a short walking distance to the main square. The staff is extremely pleasant and always willing to help with any questions you might have. I would not hesitate to recommend the Envoy to all my family and friends. By Kath, Armenia

“Friendly, accommodating, and helpful”
I met a very friendly staff the moment i walked into the Envoy Hostel. As my stay progressed they made me feel "part of the family." Whenever i asked for directions or other information they were always helpful and accurate.

Returning to the hostel after some weeks of traveling, the staff remembered me, welcomed me back, and asked about my travels. My adventure into Armenia was great fun and delight and the Envoy was a big part of it.

Besides, the Envoy is super clean, the bathrooms are modern and carefully kept.

“Chill out, it's great value for money”
It's clean and staff are so friendly! The breakfast was simple and always the same thing. The rooms had enough space. It was in a great locattion and every things came in handy! The price was low. You can find a lot of friends there. There is a japanese spa near there. By Roozbeh, Iran

“By far the most serviced, clean, best value hostel I've stayed at in 8 months of travel.”
The minute I walked in from the cold through the door, I was charmed. The staff were open and friendly, bending over backwards to help me out. I was led to an immmaculately clean dorm room, the bed was comfortable and the room warm. The shower was as clean as the rest of the place, with lots of pressure and no problems with warm water. Toilets are also sparkling. The common room is very comfortable, large and well equipped; TV, games, comfy seats, free internet (wifi and computers) and a large, clean, well-appointed kitchen. I've been helped exceptionally by the staff. Oh, and breakfast included. Centrally located and some really good pubs and bars close by. Honestly, I usually don't go the trouble of writing reviews, but I felt this place deserved this kind of write-up. The only place to stay in Yerevan, I reckon, budget traveller or otherwise. By Stu, Australia

“Excellent hostel in Yerevan”
Envoy is one of the best hostels I`ve ever been. It has 4-& 8-beded dorms, kitchen and a restroom downstairs. Also ot has private rooms if you`d not like to stay in a dorm and they are quite useful for those who want have a private rooms but not to pay a lot as hotels in Yerevan are expensive. They offer bread, cheese, butter and jam for a breakfast with tea or coffee, you also can have a tea or coffee all day long. Wi-fi is available both in rooms and restroom downstairs. Staff is very friendly and speak english, russian and armenian as well. By Boris, Russia

“Clean, bright, warm stay!”
Envoy Hostel is a great place to stay in Yerevan! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, simple, and nice. My only slight complaint is there are no windows so they're a little cave-like. The bathrooms are very clean, and there's a hairdryer for use at the front desk. The location is great - downtown, central to pretty much everything. Well done! By Imparr, USA

“Fantastic Hostel, Friendly Staff, Great Tours & Lunch in the Village - just like been at home!”
This is my first ever Hostel stays... and you might ask how would I know how good this hostel is ?! I compare to a standard hotel where it is applicable...

  • share a bed with 4 other people.. it was great fun the room are spacious and the bed is comfy even compare a hotel bed

  • toilet/bathroom is always clean and shower is good and strong!!! a good massage :)

  • first thing I worried about was security. .what do I with my valuables and where should I store them.. the room and hostel is designed with that in mind and I feel secure!

  • staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, great personality, lovely smile - it had certainly made feel welcome. They go out of the way to ensure you have a pleasant stay.

  • the common room is a great place to hang out with faster internet and wireless so i can hook up my iphone.. I meet so many travellers in the common room and had fantastic time sharing stories ...etc. I remember one night, we stood in front of the map of the world in the common room and chatted for 3 hours non-stop... great memories...

  • location, location, location... apparently the centre of Yerevan is Envoy Hostel... look up google maps if you don't believe it.. supermarket across the road.. short walk to Opera

  • walking tour is a must, the tour guide Gevorg knows so much about local history and will give you a very good overview of the city and it's history... fascinating... I have also attended Essential & Enlighten Day Tour which took me to different parts of Armenia and understand how the people in village live by enjoying home cooked meal..

  • complimentary breakfast was great

Lastly, I must say that Armenia is a beautiful country full of surprises.. the scenery outside Yerevan is much more beautiful.. and depends on the direction you go.. north, south, east and west... it was very relaxing and inspiring... also if you are a food lover.. you will love the food in Armenia.. fresh produces the BBQ porks and tomato are just so fresh and juicy... Envoy Hostel has good discount for guests staying... errrr I have to stop now as i am drooling... By cybrpt, Australia

“One of the best hostels I´ve ever been”
I add myself to the list of enchanted people with this hostel. I remember it as th best of my life, together with others that can be counted with one hand: Xian Bell Tower Youth Hostel, Sim´s Cozy Guesthouse in Chengdu and Frankfurt main HI hostal. And the reason is specially the staff and how one can feel helped and secure, as well as cleanliness, good people and location. Rooms are typical from a hostel (there are no luxuries), but they have safe boxes (take your locker). It has a very nice and big "backpacker" room, with a huge World Map so as to discuss your next bizarre destinations: Tbilisi, Samarkanda, Persepolis? It has table, games, books, cards, internet and so on. And it is where the breakfast is served. Furthermore, I finally had to change my mind and do not sleep in the hostel properly (stay during the night), because I took a night train to Yerevan. The owner insisted to give my money back, even if I had used services, breakfast, internet, shower... Definitely, a good option! By Ibobo, Spain

“Great Hostel!”
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week in June of 2010 and we loved it! We did two of the tours, which took us out to see several old monasteries and half of the country’s scenic hot spots. What a gorgeous countryside! We met a lot of great people on the tours, and then ended up making dinner with them and hanging out in the common room of the hostel. The staff was fantastic! They were extremely friendly and always ready to help us out with anything. One day the manager even took a group of us out for a free walking tour of the city. Halfway through we were approached by the Minister of Tourism on the street who wanted to welcome us to Armenia! How cool is that?! Our room was really comfortable. It was tucked away behind the kitchen so we didn’t hear anyone out in the common room, and the air conditioning was a HUGE plus with the June heat. A great hostel, and I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. By NeverTeaseAWeasel, USA

“Great location and nicest staff”
I stayed for 4 nights in the 4-bedded dorm, with no window, in the basement. It was terrible and extremely difficult to sleep since no proper ventilation, so do avoid or ask for a one with window. Also the bathrooms in the basement don't have good ventilation. However, I have never come across such nice, professional and helpful staff as here at envoy hostel. The breakfast is basic tea/coffee jam/butter/cheese bread, but the lady who organizes is so sweet and wonderful. The location is fantastic and the management makes you feel very welcome and relax. I would defintely return to this hostel, if not for the dungy basement dorm, but for staff and the people who welcome here. The price is the same as any Youth hostel in the west-Europe. By Adnan, Brazil

“Excellent value and invaluable staff!”
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, they even complimented me on my dreadful Armenian and helped me practise. It's great value, particularly for a central location and was a great base from which to explore Yerevan. They also run tours to further reaches. The staff helped organise airport transfers and wake-up calls for me, gave me advice on what to see and even invited me to join in a meal for their colleagues and the hostel owner. I'll defintely stay again if I re-visit beautiful Armenia. By Davidtoze, UK

“Oasis of friendliness and feeling just home!”
I come here several times a year when I have to be in Yerevan for my work, and always just love it! The staff is super nice and uncomplicated, and the facilities are western standard and clean which is just a relief after dusty villages. As I travel alone, its great to meet other western travelers and speak English for a change. The atmosphere is like you get in contact easily. There is a kitchen, always tea and coffee. By Itisana, Georgia

“No better hostel anywhere!”
I stayed at the Envoy Hostel monthly for the 3.5 years I was in the Peace Corps, and a few days ago stayed there the night before I returned to Chicago, after visiting friends. I love the place. It's clean, comfortable, usually quiet; the beds are wonderful, breakfast fine, and computers available anytime. All of this comes with a low price and wonderful, helpful staff, who really enjoy taking care of their guests. I recommend the Envoy Hostel completely. By, Connie061, USA

“I dig it the most”
Envoy is one of the nicest hostel I ever been. It's clean it' very well located, but the thing i appreciated the most is the staff, friendly very very helpfull with everyone!!!!!!

“The place to stay in Erevan”
A very nice hostel with courteous and very helpful staff. Great common area downstairs with internet. Everything you need is within walking distance including SAS supermarket. The tours are also very well run. I had the 4 bed, which was small, but air conditioned, which was very needed in July. By Vrab, Canada

“Absolutely Amazing Staff Make this THE Place to stay in Armenia”
Stayed here for a few days in April and it gets full marks for cleanliness, location and facilities but it's the people who work at Envoy that make it so special. Being welcomed with a smile each and every time and patiently answering questions that I'm sure they've been asked a thousand times without making it seem like a chore. The tours are absolutely essential and one of the best reasons for staying here. Gevorg and Maria are incredibly good company and so knowledgeable it feels like you're with friends for the day showing you the country which they are so justifiably proud of. Even if you're not staying at Envoy I'd highly recommend booking one of the many tours on offer. Chickenkiev, Ireland

“Fantastic place..... Nice Staff... great guests!!”
Truly one of the best hostels in the world. Perfect location, clean, great staff. By Romag1, USA

“Amazing value for money”
Envoy hostel was easily my best hostel experience ever, true to their word its located in one of the most central parts of Yerevan and they don't rely just to their location to attract clients, its VERY clean, cheerfully decorated, the rooms are good and funnily named after streets of Yerevan, but the real surprise was their stuff, i feel humbled, all their stuff went above and beyond duty to help me during my stay even finding obscure information about places i wanted to visit, also two of their tours that i at least experienced were very positive, (actually the one called enlightened Armenia was simply AWESOME) their tour guide has an excellent command of English and she made even the boring part of driving between places to be fun, on an afterthought their tours and their stuff is probably the crown jewels of this hostel, I highly recommend it and I'd definitely stay again if i visit Yerevan. By Athinaios76, Greece

“What I hoped for and More”
I had business to take care of as soon as I arrived in Yerevan, meaning I would just need a place to lay my head at night, so through a simple internet search Envoy was determined to be the best choice for me (informative website). Their incredibly accommodating ways proved to move me into wanting much more than a pillow. They were very communicative before my arrival through email (estimated 5 email exchanges).

I had a mix up in my timing (time zones and all) and had reserved my stay for the DAY AFTER my arrival! The staff calmly handled the situation and arranged a place for me regardless at 2am nonetheless! Internet was ever ready for me when I needed it to comunicate back to friends, family, and colleagues...thank goodness.

I was invited to take a Village Tour with another traveler, which was so great that I clammered for the next available. The next tour was to the mountains. This was an entire day, so was delighted when I realized that the tour guide schedules in a "siesta."

Desk staff always had time for my questions and never made it obvious that they had been asked that question thousands of times prior. [Good hiring] I had left my beloved shampoo in the restroom and when I returned 4 days later (!) it was waiting for me patiently on a shelf not too far from where I remembered having left it! (lots of points for that one!)  Will be heading back for another tour! By Ildiaz, Armenia

“Fantastic - one of my best hostel experiences”
Envoy is fantastic. I enjoyed everything, from the extremely friendly, efficient and helpful service of all the staff to the dorms, which are all 4 person dorms, practically new, completely clean and with working heaters. The beds are also one of the most comfortable I encountered on my trip around the Middle East.

The bathrooms are also great, there is plenty of hot water, the shower heads are fantastic, and the bathrooms are spotless and constantly cleaned. The common area is good with free internet and wi-fi, and I think there are some free city tours (although I never took up the offer.)

I liked the location, which is walking distance around Yerevan to nearly all the sites and to the metro and buses, and I really enjoyed my stay. I'll definitely be back. By Kylar, Australia

“I'll be back, Envoy Hostel!!!!”

“Clean, friendly, safe, great location, good staff”
having stayed there a few times now, I would highly recommend it to anyone that is thinking of staying in the budget end of yerevan. its clean, there is always water (including hot), great location, basically its what a hotel should be...somewhere affordable that is safe and clean.  By SerendipitySydney, Australia

“Clean Rooms, Great Staff”

“Yerevan's best budget place to stay”
Yerevan was my last stop on a 6-week trip and the hostel was one of the nicest, friendliest places I visited. I really appreciated the guest kitchen and free internet, and the English-speaking staff were very knowledgeable and helpful! The location is very good, a 10-min. walk away from Yerevan's main square.  I stayed in a windowless basement dorm that was a bit dreary but clean. Breakfast was minimal (bread, butter, jam, cheese and coffee or tea) so get some extra food from the supermarket across the street. By half_baked_potato, Canada

“Great Vibe”
We stayed at this fantastic hostel towards the end of our European holiday. It has to be one of the best hostels I've stayed in. The staff gave us a warm and friendly welcome, the rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable and the whole place has a great vibe. I can recommend the one day cultural tour that the hostel has recently started to run. They also have a Yerevan city walking tour which I didn't manage to do but others said it was fun and informative! By Travelcat29, Australia

They organise daily tours, either full day ones reasonably priced, or shorter free walks. Breakfast was coffee with bread, butter, cheese & jams - while not exciting (it's a hostel, come on), the portions were generous. Nice kitchen, good computers, good common area.

I had a great time at the Envoy. I found the staff to be incredibly helpful and organized. Because of Armenia's size, it is very cost effective to visit a lot of the sites as a group and Envoy does a great job of providing leaders and transport to lots of different places around the country. The staff are fun, multilingual and in touch with what you want to do. Highly recommended. By Alex, Canada

Some hostels are clean and nice and provide all the amenities - central location, good showers, clean sheets, wifi, breakfast, etc. Other hostels are warm friendly places where one feels welcome and somehow ends up in the most interesting conversations with people from across the world. The Envoy is both. Unless you can afford the Marriott, this is the place to stay in Yerevan. By Fred, USA

hmmmmm what can i say, i just felt like home great friendly stuff, best position in the middle of yerevan close to everything and nice beds good showers ( hot water :D ), free wifi ( 2 mb/s ), tasty Armenian Breakfast, simply the best place to stay in yerevan :) By William, Lebanon

Me and my friends took free walking tour, it was amazing! It was such a great way to get within the roots of Yerevan and understand how this fantastic city came to be! All the best for the future! Joan, Portugal

A fantastic tour (we did Essential Armenia tour with Mane)! We loved every bit of it. Mane was a brilliant tour guide. Mahran, UK

Thanks to Envoy, Mane and the driver for an unforgettable trip "enlightened Armenia"! Armenia is beautiful! Grethe and Andreas, Norway

I highly recommend the Soviet tour. It was an interesting window into a different part of Armenian history. What made the tour delightful was Gevorg's acting in character. It was fascinating and fun! By Shanon, USA

The best hostel in the world. We have been here since the 16th on a Habitat fro Humanity build. Wonderful place with wonderful staff. By Murray, Canada

Dear Envoy Staff,

Thank you for all your friendly service. I have appreciated your helpfulness and your thoughtfulness. It is good also to be somewhere that is kept clean. The tour to Lake Sevan and Geghard, Garni is something to remember. Thank you very much. By Don, Australia

To Envoy,

Thank you for the tour, in such a small time such interesting culture and history were seen. By Gregor, Australia

Thank you very much for wonderful tours (Walking, General and Cultural). All of them really showed us a lot from the Armenia's life, history and traditions. We have spent here a wonderful time and we would (will) definitely recommend your hostel and your tours to our friends who are going to visit Armenia. As I already wrote all the tours were perfect and we did really enjoy them. Beside this I have one suggestion. Maybe it would be even more interesting if people (tourists) could really watch villagers while making bread and making vodka. On the other hand I understand that they can not do it each time tourists come. Anyway we had a great time!!! Once more, thanks to all the staff members. Your kind attitude made our stay in Yerevan a real pleasure. By Ester and Grazyna, Czech Republic
